Events. Sustainable Multilingualism 2025

The 8th International Scientific Conference “Sustainable Multilingualism 2025” will be held in Kaunas on May 29–31, 2025. The event is organised by the Institute of Foreign Languages of Vytautas Magnus University and the Language Teachers’ Association of Lithuania.

This conference aims to bring together everyone interested in the topics of multilingualism (language policymakers, researchers, educators, students, and other stakeholders) wishing to deepen their knowledge in areas such as (but not limited to):

  • – Implementation of language policies
  • – Language preservation and revitalisation
  • – Development and assessment of multilingual competence
  • – Artificial intelligence in applied linguistics
  • – Innovative and technology-based approaches to language education
  • – Professional development of language teachers
  • – Multilingual issues in translation and interpreting
  • – Multilingual issues in literature
  • – Contemporary Lithuanian language studies

The plenary speakers of the conference Sustainable Multilingualism 2025Karina Firkavičiūtė, Jūratė Ruzaitė, Johan Sandberg McGuinne, and John W. Schwieter — are internationally recognised scholars who will share the latest results of their research, address the challenges of language learning and translation, and explore the prospects for the development of a multilingual society (detailed profiles of the plenary speakers are available here).

We are pleased to announce that the CLARIN-LT research team will also be delivering presentations at this conference.
