CLARIN-LT Team Participated in CLARIN-2020 Annual Conference

This year, the CLARIN Annual Conference took place virtually. We are glad that a number of Lithuanian researchers and lecturers attended the conference.

A new initiative of UI (User Involvement) committee, “CLARIN in the Classroom” was introduced as one of the conference sessions. The aim of this initiative is to invite the university lecturers who  use CLARIN resources, tools or services in their courses to present their experience and suggest future steps that can help facilitate and accelerate the further integration of CLARIN into the university curricula.

In the presentation Pedagogical Applications of the ORVELIT Corpus, Jurgita Vaičenonienė and Jolanta Kovalevskaitė shared experience how to integrate comparable corpora in translation teaching.  ORVELIT is a monolingual comparable corpus which can be used for Lithuanian language research and teaching. The ORVELIT corpus is already available in CLARIN-LT Repository (https://clarin.vdu.lt/xmlui/handle/20.500.11821/40).

In the CLARIN Bazaar representatives from Lithuania have presented two presentations:

  • Erika Rimkutė, Loïc Boizou, Ieva Bumbulienė, Jolanta Kovalevskaitė, Jurgita Vaičenonienė – Arbitrary Collocations of Lithuanian: Identification, Description and Usage (ARKA)
  • Andrius Utka, Aivaras Rokas, Agnė Bielinskienė, Sigita Rackevičienė, Liudmila Mockienė, Marius Laurinaitis – Corpora for Cybersecurity Term Extraction Project
