Registration for the CLARIN Annual Conference 2025 is now open

The CLARIN Annual Conference will take place in Vienna (Austria) from September 30 to October 2, 2025. This event offers the flexibility to participate either in person or remotely. Additionally, it is free of charge and accessible to all individuals who are interested in language technology, emerging trends, and cutting-edge innovations for the future. This interdisciplinary conference brings together experts from the humanitarian, social, and technological domains to share their scientific knowledge. Throughout the conference, inspiring success stories are presented, current issues and challenges are analysed, innovative solutions are proposed, and significant accomplishments are showcased.

This year, the CLARIN Annual Conference will feature keynote presentations from the following speakers:

Andreas Baumann is an assistant professor of Digital Linguistics at the Department of German Studies of the University of Vienna (Austria). Holding a background in Linguistics, Mathematics, and Cognitive Science, he explores language evolution through the application of mathematical ecology, data science, and corpus linguistics methods.  Andreas Baumann will give a presentation at the CLARIN conference entitled Language change as an epidemiological phenomenon: why interdisciplinary linguistic research inevitably requires open data.

Lonneke van der Plas is an associate professor of natural language processing (NLP) at the University of Italian-speaking Switzerland (Università della Svizzera italiana) in Switzerland. She is at the helm of the Computation, Cognition & Language (CCL) group, which she established at the Idiap Research Institute in 2021. Lonneke has authored over 70 publications covering a range of topics, including computational creativity, multi-lingual natural language processing (including low-resource languages), diachronic modelling of language, (medical) question answering, NLP for HR, and semantic role labelling, among others.Lonneke van der Plas will give a presentation on creativity and artificial intelligence at the CLARIN conference.
