Events. Summer University in France

From 6 to 18 July 2026, the European Summer University in Digital Humanities “Culture and Technology” will be held in Besançon (France). During the event, a range of topics will be explored, highlighting the diverse ways in which the humanities engage with and integrate digital technologies and computational methods.

The Summer University aims to create an open and inspiring environment that fosters not only discussion but also the acquisition of new knowledge, skills, and competencies in the field of computing technologies. In recent years, technology has become essential to the humanities, increasingly impacting the daily activities of professionals, including librarians, archivists, and those in the wider cultural sector, as well as practitioners in other humanities disciplines.

Summer University Audience: This event is intended for an international audience. We invite final-year students, graduates, master’s students, doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, teachers, librarians, and technical specialists from Europe and other countries across the globe who use or aim to use digital and computer-based methods in their work.

We also invite engineers and computer scientists interested in learning about the methods employed in the humanities and applying them practically in the development of software and hardware systems.

The event will be conducted in English.
