2024-(2029) Three members of the national CLARIN-LT consortium, Vytautas Magnus University (coordinator), Vilnius University and Mykolas Romeris University, are implementing the “Membership in the international scientific research infrastructure CLARIN ERIC (Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure) Plan” (joint no. VS-15). The project is funded by the Lithuanian Research Council.

The board of the CLARIN-LT consortium consists of:
Assoc. Prof. Jurgita Vaičenonienė – National Coordinator, represents the CLARIN-LT national consortium in the international infrastructure, coordinates the implementation of the CLARIN ERIC infrastructure requirements and the dissemination of the offered services at the national level among other related activities.
Prof. Sigita Rackevičienė and Assoc. Prof. Rita Juknevičienė – User involvement coordinators, responsible for user involvement activities, promotion of user participation in CLARIN-LT initiatives and events, presentation of the consortium activities, participation in User Involvement Committee meetings and performing other related activities.
Dr. Andrius Puksas – Legal Affairs coordinator, participates in Legal and Ethical Issues committee meetings, interprets, prepares and publishes analyses related to legal and ethical issues, publishes CLARIN approved legal and ethical policies, supervises the content of licenses supported by CLARIN and performs other related activities.
Membership in the CLARIN ERIC infrastructure is important for Lithuania from international, economic, social, scientific and technological points of view. The CLARIN-LT center ensures the opportunity to use the stored digital resources and technologies in various languages for all Lithuanian research and study institutions, presents Lithuanian research to international audiences, and ensures the integration of Lithuanian resources into a pan-European platform.
The most important planned activities of the project:
- ● Development of the CLARIN-LT repository (metadata handling, authentication support).
- ● Administration and development of the CLARIN-LT Consortium website (https://clarin-lt.lt).
- ● CLARIN-LT data storage administration and service portal support (https://clarin.vdu.lt/xmlui/; https://corpus.vdu.lt).
- ● Participation in CLARIN ERIC National Coordinator Forum and committee meetings.
- ● Participation and reporting at the annual CLARIN ERIC General Assembly.
- ● Participation of Lithuanian researchers in relevant scientific seminars or conferences.
- ● Organization of the annual CLARIN-LT seminars presenting the consortium activities.
- ● Curation of the Knowledge Center: providing consulting services on corpus linguistics, the development of Lithuanian language technologies and their application.
- ● Organization of user involvement events.
- ● Publication of scientific articles.
- ● Update of the CLARIN-LT open access repository.
- ● Organization of certification of the CLARIN-LT B-type center.
- ● Management of open data in accordance with FAIR and GDPR principles, promotion of the FAIR principles, open science, and open data.
In 2017, CLARIN-LT carried out the CLARIN-PLUS project, No. 676529 (H2020-INFRADEV-1-2015-1) (for more information click here), which included a workshop on “Creation and Use of Social Media Resources”.
In 2015-2016, VMU Centre of Computational Linguistics and VMU Faculty of Informatics, together with VU and KTU partners, carried out the project of Lithuania’s membership in the international research infrastructure “Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure European Research Infrastructure Consortium (CLARIN ERIC)”.
