From 13 to 17 July 2026, Ghent (Belgium) will host the summer school Methods in Language Sciences, dedicated to qualitative and quantitative approaches in linguistics. The programme will feature a range of training sessions designed for participants at different levels of experience, offering both foundational and advanced methodological insights.
Applicants are invited to select from a portfolio of ten specialised modules:
- ● Introduction to R
- ● Introduction to statistics with R
- ● Natural Language Processing
- ● Introduction to Python
- ● PRAAT
- ● Eye-tracking
- ● Survey design
- ● Multivariate data analysis with R
- ● Regression analysis with R
- ● Advanced predictive modeling
Each module comprises 15 contact hours. Please note that some modules are scheduled concurrently; prospective participants are therefore encouraged to review the summer school programme carefully and select one or two training modules accordingly.
Participants may also choose from the following specialised training sessions:
Novice track: Introduction to R + Introduction to statistics with R
Expert track: Multivariate data analysis with R + Regression analysis with R
NLP track: Natural Language Processing + Introduction to Python
Certificates of completion will be issued to all participants upon full attendance of the 15 contact hours.
